Michigan Planner’s Supports the Detroit Student Race Team

This year was the 30^th anniversary of the Spring Performance Driving School at Grattan Raceway in Grattan/Belding, MI. The event is organized, promoted, and managed by MFD Performance Driving, LLC of Traverse City, MI. Geoff Harris, our VP of Medicare Sales, has been apart of this organization for INSERT TIME HERE. Harris says “the goal of the organization is to provide an opportunity for sports car enthusiasts to become better, safer drivers, within a controlled racetrack environment. This is not a race, it’s a performance driving safety school. Grattan Raceway is a technical two- and half-mile road course.”

Participants bring their own cars. Run groups are divided by experience and need for instruction. Drivers are placed in Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Instructor groups. This year, over 75 drivers registered, and they run the event in just about any weather condition except for lightning.

This year we had a distinct pleasure and opportunity to support a grassroots effort that is making motorsport accessible to students in the Detroit area by donating a registration which included two days of on-track driving, instruction, and classroom education. The Detroit Race Team is a non-profit entity that began in 2020 offering a program for students to build and race cars in sanctioned events around the country. Our goal was to provide seat-time and instruction at no charge. On top of this effort, Michigan Planners was able to support this non-profit with a donation to assist the team in their effort to drive across the country.
